Unaddressed hearing loss is the 3rd largest cause of years lived with disability globally. According to the WHOs World Report on Hearing, our collective failure to adequately address hearing loss incurs excess health, social and economic costs surmounting to $1 trillion annually.
MindAffect is a healthtech company utilizing AI-augmented Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technologies for the development of objective, brain response-based hearing and vision tests. We aim to become a global champion headquartered in Europe in hearing and vision diagnosis by enabling rapid, accurate and accessible testing of both responsive patients and so-called hard-to-test (HtT) patients (young children, the elderly and the severely disabled). By addressing the needs of the HtT population (1.6bn individuals worldwide), we will mitigate healthcare inequalities and significantly speed up time to treatment.
With the EICs support, we will develop and launch the Sofi Hearing Assessment system in the EU and US markets. Our unique technology stands to become the new gold standard in a market that has not seen any major innovations in the last 30 years. Our patented Rapid-CAEP technology overcomes limitations of existing approaches by applying Canonical Correlation Analysis to generated Cortical Auditory Evoked Potential data. The result is that Sofi can process 6x as much data per second than leading EEG-based technologies, conducting tests without the need for sedation, and at a fraction of the cost and time.
Sales revenues from Sofi are projected to reach approx. 92m by 2031. By accurately diagnosing HtT patients at Points of Care, we will grow the hearing diagnostics and the hearing device market, which today are greatly underserved as only about 23% of people with hearing impairment are being treated, due to lack of effective testing methods. Sofi will have a considerable socio/economic impact on childhood development, productivity, healthy aging and healthcare equality.
