On the Use of AI Tools in Schools: Deepening Selected Language Skills with the Help of ChatGPT Although artificial intelligence has gained considerable attention only in recent years, it has deeper historical roots.Both published research and our study at the Faculty of Education, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, demonstrate a growing application of LLM technologies in higher education and secondary schools.Our study corroborates this trend, revealing an increase in usage over a six-month period.Additionally, this paper presents a study conducted in spring 2024 that evaluated the use of ChatGPT in grammar instruction at two secondary schools in the Pilsen region.Despite the small sample size, over one-third of the students achieved better results in a control test compared to their performance before the introduction of ChatGPT.The technologies also positively impacted motivation and self-directed learning, including the development of personalized learning strategies and potential improvements in subject-specific terminology.In conclusion, LLM technologies such as ChatGPT provide significant support in the educational process and foster competencies essential for the future.
