Modernisation of the grammar translation method: a convergence of AI technologies and foreign language learning

Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed nearly every aspect of modern life, including education. The integration of AI tools into the classroom represents an attempt to redesign traditional, human-centred teaching methods. Educators and researchers are now investigating how digital tools, particularly AI, influence pedagogical roles, teaching strategies, and learner engagement. This article posits the efficiency of the grammar-translation method (GTM) in modern classrooms. We argue that the GTM may be meaningfully enhanced through the integration of AI teaching tools, as it customizes instruction, ameliorates error correction, and supports interdisciplinary learning.
