Abstract The Imperative of Responsibility and Artificial Intelligence: Hans Jonas’ Criticism of Technological Progress Should the development and usage of artificial intelligence be prohibited? On the one hand, several benefits result from its development and usage. On the other hand, several risks and threats associated with this technology have to be considered. According to Hans Jonas’ ethics of responsibility the risks and threats are so serious that the prohibition of artificial intelligence would be appropriate. This will be elucidated in the present article.
