This study aimed to investigate the factorial structure of the General Attitudes Towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS) in a sample of Romanian adults (N=480; 220 females; Mean age=28.26).The scale assesses attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence (AI), comprising two factors in the original version: positive and negative attitudes regarding AI.To analyze how the scale is structured, the sample was split into two equal parts: the first part was used for exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multi-group CFA for gender invariance were performed on the second group.McDonald's omega and Cronbach's alpha coefficients were calculated to assess the internal consistency of the scale.The results indicate that, unlike the original two-factor structure, the Romanian version comprises three factors: two reflecting positive attitudes (perceived benefits of AI and superiority of AI over Human Intelligence) and one representing negative attitudes.Internal consistency was high, with α and ω values ranging between 0.742 and 0.890.In addition, discriminant validity was confirmed using heterotrait monotrait ratio (HTMT).The three-factor version of the GAAIS is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing attitudes towards AI in Romanian populations and can be used to analyze attitudes towards AI in different domains.
