Energy harvesting, Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have seen significant growth in recent years and are considered key enablers for next-generation wireless technologies. The convergence of these technologies will enable the development of intelligent and sustainable IoT that can offer numerous benefits such as optimized application performance, reduced maintenance costs and minimized environmental impact. In this context, TALENTS project aims to bring together experts and researchers from both academic and non-academic sectors (including SMEs) from Sweden, Ireland, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, and Pakistan to co-develop novel, sustainable and intelligent IoT based solutions for continuous water quality monitoring. TALENTS project will focus on developing novel and practical technological solutions including efficient, robust and low-cost energy harvesters (solar, thermal, and mechanical), EH aware task scheduling, energy prediction models, communication protocols, resource-efficient AI models, including TinyML for on-device computation and cloud-based AI for large-scale data analytics. By integrating these components, TALENTS will advance the state-of-the-art in sustainable, energy-autonomous IoT based water monitoring systems. Also, the project will make a positive impact by providing excellent and equal training opportunities for researchers enhancing their scientific expertise, networking capacities, and transferable skills to foster sustainable career development.
