This article explores the challenges and possibilities involved in translating religious texts, with particular attention to terminological precision. Religious language is marked by special depth, which makes its translation especially complex. In this context, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a supportive tool for specialized translators is analyzed. The article discusses how AI technologies can enhance terminological consistency and address cultural nuances in specialized translation—without compromising the sensitivity or authenticity of religious messages. Furthermore, it becomes evident that although AI-generated translations may appear linguistically accurate at first glance, they often fall short in theological contexts. Therefore, human post-editing is strongly recommended to avoid loss of meaning or misinterpretation. To improve quality, AI should be trained to segment Arabic sentences more clearly and split longer sentences into logical German units. It should also be equipped to recognize and accurately apply theological terminology. Additionally, the stylistic level of religious texts must be preserved, and existing Qur’an translations should be consulted to maintain intertextual accuracy. Finally, metaphors should be handled with cultural sensitivity—favoring meaningful, context-appropriate expressions over literal translations. This article concludes that while AI can support the translation process, it must be applied cautiously and always in collaboration with human expertise to ensure fidelity, clarity, and respect for the source material’s spiritual and cultural dimensions. Die Fachübersetzung spielt eine zentrale Rolle bei der Vermittlung von Inhalten, insbesondere in Bereichen mit spezifischer Terminologie wie der religiösen Sprache. Dieser Artikel untersucht die Herausforderungen und Möglichkeiten bei der Übersetzung religiöser Texte, wobei besonderes Augenmerk auf die präzise Terminologie gelegt wird. Religiöse Sprache zeichnet sich durch besondere Tiefe aus, was den Übersetzungsprozess besonders anspruchsvoll macht. In diesem Kontext wird der Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) als unterstützendes Werkzeug für Fachübersetzer analysiert. Der Beitrag diskutiert, wie KI-Technologien zur Verbesserung der terminologischen Konsistenz und zur Bewältigung kultureller Nuancen in der Fachübersetzung beitragen können, ohne dabei die Sensibilität und Authentizität der religiösen Botschaften zu gefährden.
