The BAKI project BAKI is an innovative project, which is carried out by the University Medical Center Göttingen and the University of Würzburg. It addresses a group which is currently often not accessible by occupational care, virtual workers. Virtual work is defined as work arrangements where information- and communication technologies are central to the work itself. This is often related to a physical dispersion since collaboration no longer requires employees to work in the same building. Because of this, labour protection guidelines often do not apply, and occupational doctors have no access to these employees. BAKI aims to improve this by developing two new digital tools. BAKI-AI is a learning algorithm, which will give employees personalised feedback on their work-related resources, demands and recommended occupational care methods. To train this algorithm, a big dataset from virtual workers in Germany will be required. For this, a multimodal data collection approach was devised. Using both questionnaires and sensors, multiple physiological and psychological aspects of work will be captured. After the development of BAKI-AI, the virtual interaction platform BAKI-social will be developed. BAKI-social will combine aspects of virtual and extended reality in order to provide a more in-depth interaction between virtual employees and occupational doctors. By combining occupational medicine and artificial intelligence, BAKI aims to develop a new field of study and take a step towards the future of occupational care. Keywords: occupational medicine – artificial intelligence – extended reality – health
