Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the operational and editorial landscape of broadcast journalism within emerging media systems such as Malaysia. This study examines the development, application and implications of AI integration in Malaysian broadcast journalism, with a focus on newsroom transformation, content production and ethical governance. The growing usage of AI-driven tools in news gathering, scripting, personalisation and distribution signals a structural shift in journalistic practice that demands critical scholarly attention. Using a systematic literature review (SLR), this study integrates existing academic and industry discourse on AI adoption in Malaysian broadcast media, with specific reference to practices within leading organisations. The findings indicate that AI enhances newsroom efficiency, accelerates real-time reporting and expands audience engagement capabilities. However, these advancements are accompanied by pressing concerns related to editorial accountability, algorithmic bias, transparency and professional autonomy. The study argues that while AI presents significant opportunities for innovation in broadcast journalism, its integration must be governed by strong ethical frameworks and reinforced editorial standards to safeguard journalistic integrity. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on AI-mediated journalism in Southeast Asia and offers conceptual insights for policymakers, media practitioners and scholars navigating the evolving relationship between technology and news production.
