AI Initiatives for Viksit Bharat- India's Journey Towards a Global Technology Leader

Abstract India has recognized Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a critical driver of economic growth and technological progress. With initiatives such as the AI portal indiaai.in and the AIRAWAT cloud infrastructure, the country is positioning itself as a global AI hub. AI is being applied across healthcare, education, infrastructure, policy-making, and governance. This paper reviews India’s AI journey with emphasis on national strategies, AI startups, chatbot applications, central and state-level initiatives, and ethical concerns. It highlights India’s efforts to leverage AI for socio-economic development and its potential role in building Viksit Bharat —a technologically advanced and inclusive developed nation.
